Mitja Sirk, Friulano Bianco 2018
Our buddy Mitja makes this wine, and for those reasons, we're on board. He's a badass Somm, beloved by every important winemaker in Itay and helps run his family-owned and operated restaurant in Friuli (
La Subida). Friulano can be made in a lot of different styles. Some producers make the wine using only stainless steel so they are fruity and crisp. Others may use concrete or old oak barrels so the wines become a bit saltier and richer in flavor. The flavors are usually floral, a little nutty, and it has some bitterness to it which works well with different foods.
Friulano should always be: floral, fruity, a little bitter, and inexpensive.
If you like it here’s what’s important to remember: from Northern Eastern Italy, no oak but oily texture, drink with Prosciutto.
