While Presqu’ile is located in Santa Barbara, its wines are unmistakably ‘old world’ in style. They take advantage of the Santa Maria Valley’s cool climate, and employ winemaking techniques like whole cluster fermentation, in order to make spicy, earthy reds from pinot noir and syrah. This example of the latter tastes like it’s from the Northern Rhône. It balances deeply savory notes with freshness in a way that’s very rarely found in red wines from California.
Tastes like: Blueberry, black pepper, dried lavender, roasted meat.
How to drink: Decant and enjoy with lamb chops, steak, or braised meats.
