Château Lafleur, Château Grand Village Rouge 2022 Half Bottle
Half-bottles of Bordeaux are always nice to have on hand, especially from Chateau Lafleur at less than $30. Along with Pétrus, Lafleur is the greatest producer in Pomerol. Unlike their ‘grand vin’, this plush, medium-bodied red is meant to be enjoyed right out of the gate.
Moreau-Naudet, Chablis 2023 Half Bottle
Moreau-Naudet is one of our favorite producers in Chablis. Bright, tart, and salty, this is Virginie Moreau’s flagship wine. In half-bottle, it’s an ideal option for ‘semi-dry January’, pairing with sushi, or anytime you want a low-commitment crisp white wine.
Here's what you should know about it:
- Located in Pomerol, Chateau Lafleur is one of the most iconic producers in all of Bordeaux. The Guinaudeau family makes this red wine from around 80% merlot, along with cabernet franc. It’s classic Right Bank Bordeaux, meaning juicy, smooth, and subtly chocolatey.
- In the northern reaches of Burgundy, Chablis’ cool climate produces chardonnay that’s salty and refreshing. Stéphane Moreau put his family’s winery on the shortlist of Chablis’ very best producers. Stéphane passed away in 2016, but his wife Virginie has kept the quality as high as ever. The style - built around low yields and extensive aging - continues to produce pure, chiseled Chablis.

As sommeliers, we often get asked, “What’s the best wine on the list?”
