Joseph Roty, Marsannay 2016 (Pre-Sale Arriving December)

Joseph Roty is Red Burgundy at its classic, old-school best. Very little has changed at this Gevrey-Chambertin estate over the decades (or centuries), and it remains an insiders’ favorite for its potent, deeply savory reds. The Roty wines always require time to unfurl, and approaching the decade mark, this concentrated, velvety 2016 is now singing.

Here's what you should know about it:
  • Joseph Roty is an 11th-generation domaine that’s been making wine in Gevrey-Chambertin since the days of Louis XIV.
  • This Red Burgundy comes from just north of Gevrey in the village of Marsannay. Along with Sylvain Pataille and Bruno Clair, Roty has helped Marsannay earn a reputation for serious, undervalued red wines.
  • Frosts in 2016 reduced Roty’s production by 50%. As a result, they blended their top-class single-vineyards into this wine.
