Lamy-Pillot, Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 'Champ de Morgeot' 2022
$65
Sébastien Caillat and Florence Lamy run one of the most in-demand estates in Burgundy at Lamy-Caillat. However, the couple still spends the majority of their time at another winery in Chassagne-Montrachet, Lamy-Pillot. Here, they make a range of classic Burgundy in both colors. The reds, including this wine from one of Chassagne’s greatest vineyards, showcase the powerful, earthy, old-school side of Burgundy.
Here's what you should know about it:
- Lamy-Pillot is located in Chassagne-Montrachet, and this deep, peppery Red Burgundy comes from one of the village’s best vineyards.
- The winery is run by two of Burgundy’s modern stars, Sébastien Caillat and Florence Lamy.
- The husband-and-wife team also run Lamy-Caillat, where they make white wines that all sell for more than $500 a bottle.

As sommeliers, we often get asked, “What’s the best wine on the list?”
