Poggio di Sotto, Rosso di Montalcino 2020

$110
$90

Poggio di Sotto is one of our favorite producers in Tuscany. The iconic estate in Montalcino makes elegant, earthy sangiovese that’s more like Burgundy than oaky versions of Brunello. Deeply savory yet fresh and airy, this wine showcases Poggio’s classic style. It comes from the same vineyards as their Brunello, but it’s just not aged quite as long, and is ready to drink now.

Here's what you should know about it:
  • Poggio di Sotto is a Tuscan benchmark. It was founded in the 1989 by Piero Palmucci, who was a longtime mentor of Stella di Campalto.
  • Like Stella, Poggio di Sotto’s sangiovese is fresh, roasted, and ethereal in style.
  • This is 100% sangiovese from the same vineyards as Poggio’s Brunello. It’s just not aged for as long, and it costs half as much.
As sommeliers, we often get asked, “What’s the best wine on the list?”
Rarely would we ever tell the truth. We wanted to hoard them for ourselves, or stash them away to drink with our sommelier friends in-the-know. Well, Parcelle Picks is our big reveal. This is our selection of the hard-to-find, ready-to-drink, sometimes well known, maybe obscure, and always limited wines we love most.

Call it a hit list, a daily deal, or whatever you like. It’s the best stuff we have right now—and at the best prices.
