Vincent Dureuil-Janthial, Coteaux Bourguignons 2023
$35
Dureuil-Janthial is one of the rare addresses that’s equally sought-after by casual Burgundy fans and the most serious collectors. The reason is simple: Vincent Dureuil's wines continue to represent some of the best value in all of Burgundy. This red comes from a single vineyard in Dureuil-Janthial’s hometown of Rully. A touch of gamay is blended with the pinot noir, resulting in a bright-fruited, earthy, chillable red wine.
Here's what you should know about it:
- Dureuil-Janthial is the best producer in the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. The domaine is located in the village of Rully, a few kilometers south of Chassagne-Montrachet.
- Wines labeled ‘Coteaux Bourguignons’ are allowed to include gamay. Janthial blends 10% gamay with 90% pinot noir, all from a single parcel in Rully.
- The inclusion of gamay gives this savory, medium-bodied red juicy fruit notes and added freshness.

As sommeliers, we often get asked, “What’s the best wine on the list?”
