Old Italian
There are more Italian grapes than there are Italian hand gestures, and many more of them than you might think have the capacity to age.
Some, like Barolo and Brunello have a long track record of this; others, like dolcetto, barbera, and freisa are more unexpected. Shop these if you like the idea of drinking history, or simply like reds that are more earthy and complex than they are fruity.
