Jean Foillard is a legendary figure in Beaujolais. Along with the likes of Marcel Lapierre, Guy Breton, and Yvon Métras, Foillard helped the world realize that Beaujolais can be complex, sought-after wine. This bottle is from Morgon, arguably the best 'cru' (sub-region) in Beaujolais. More specifically, it’s from the Côte du Py, the top site in Morgon. Combine one of the region's great producers with perhaps its most renowned vineyard, and you get a savory, vibrant red that's on the shortlist of best bottles in all of Beaujolais.
