Like most great Italian winemakers, Bruno Giacosa was making wine well before any of us could legally drink wine– he joined the family business at the age of 15. In the eight decades that followed, he became legend, championing the promise of single-vineyard bottling and building an unrivaled and intimate knowledge of the Langhe's vineyards in the process. Even his Barbera is a cut-above. It's dark-fruited and savory and, while a bit softer than Barolo, still powerful.
