Cappellano, Barolo 'Pié Franco' 2020

Cappellano belongs in Barolo’s most rarefied air. Like Bartolo Mascarello, Baldo Cappellano was a legendary figure who both represented the old-school and brought the region to new heights. And like at Mascarello, the wines have only gotten better since the new generation took the helm in the early 2000s. A new, very limited batch of Augusto Cappellano’s wines arrive in a couple weeks.

Cappellano’s Pie Franco is one of the rarest wines in all of Italy. It's made from extraordinarily old vines in Serralunga, which yield an elegant, concentrated, long-lived Barolo.
