This wine is delicious. We opened two bottles a few weeks ago. 1997 is a gamble vintage, so it takes a bit of research. We bought this from the importer directly which was a good sign. It's also from one of the best vineyards in Burgundy, Perrières.
The Ampeau family farms 10 hectares of vines scattered across 10 of Burgundy’s top premier cru vineyards. Wines are not released to the public until the family deems them ready, an all too rare practice in Burgundy where the scarce wines have enough commercial appeal these days to sell out upon release. 'Les Perrières' is one of Meursault's great vineyards and this perfectly aged bottle shows why: it's honeyed, savory, and rich, though still bright with acidity.
