Auguste Clape, Cornas 2014

$225
Cornas is a town famous for its dark-fruited and savory Syrah, and Domaine Clape is like the mayor of Cornas (Auguste Clape, who passed away in 2018, was literally the mayor of Cornas). Clape's syrah is classic and traditional in style: Powerful, full-bodied, and spicy, though still fresh. Unlike oaky syrah from California or shiraz from Down Under these wines taste like blackberries, lavender, and smoke.
