Auguste Clape, Cornas 2018

Few wine regions are as synonymous with a single producer as Cornas and Auguste Clape. There are a bunch of reasons for this, but it really boils down to the fact that Clape makes some of the best and most collectible syrah in the Northern Rhône, and thus the world. 

This is syrah at its most savory, deep, and old-school. It’s a wine that can age forever, but unlike most Cornas, it’s enjoyable when young as well. Clape is a reference-point producer, and the 2018 is an ideal representation of their classic style.
