Cornas is a town famous for its dark-fruited and savory Syrah, and Domaine Clape is like the mayor of Cornas (Auguste Clape, who passed away in 2018, was literally the mayor of Cornas). They make syrah in a classic and traditional style: Powerful, full-bodied, and spicy, though still fresh. Unlike oaky syrah from California or shiraz from Down Under these wines taste like blackberries, lavender, and smoke.
