When it comes to ‘traditionalist’ Barolo producers, the oft-repeated names are Giacomo Conterno, Bartolo Mascarello, and Giuseppe Rinaldi. Slightly less well known, but just as deserving of plaudits is Brovia. Their structured, powerful, single-vineyard wines come from many of the best sites in Piedmont.
This Barolo is particularly earthy - think truffles and piles of fallen leaves - layered with lots of herbal and dark fruit notes. This wine has helped solidify Brea’s reputation as a premier site in the region.
