Jean-Marie Guffens opened the world’s eyes to the potential of the Maconnais area of Burgundy, and he became a legend in the process. More recently, he expanded beyond Burgundy, taking over Château des Tourettes in Provence. From the region’s highest-altitude site, he crafts this fresh, juicy red with a blend of grenache and cabernet sauvignon. Stylistically, it’s much closer to Beaujolais than the big reds that this sunny part of southern France is known for.
Tastes like: Raspberry, white pepper, tobacco leaf.
How to drink: Lightly chilled with burgers or cheese and charcuterie.
