Languedoc, a vast area south of Provence and north of Roussillon, produces a ton of wine. And frankly, most of it isn’t worth your time. However, there are notable exceptions - Mas Jullien, Grange des Peres, Mas de Daumas Gassac. Another name that belongs on that list is Clos de la Barthassade, where Guillame and Hélène Baron have been biodynamically farming the area’s rugged slopes for the last decade. They make this deep, earthy, richly-fruited red wine primarily from grenache and cinsault.
