Domaine de la Grande Colline, VdF Syrah 2022

Domaine de la Grande Colline is the most exciting producer in Cornas today. It’s a superlative that’s been attached to Thierry Allemand for the past quarter-century. With Allemand’s wines now amongst the most collectible in France, the ‘rising star’ label belongs to Jonathan Jacquart. Jacquart previously worked at Rayas and Allemand before taking over Grande Colline with the help of Thierry Allemand himself. This whole-cluster syrah from vines near the top of the hill in Cornas is aged in barrels from Domaine Dujac. It shows off the elegant, polished side of Cornas. Unsurprisingly, it reminds more than a little of Allemand.
