The Montille family has been in Burgundy for 300 years, but the wines rose to global fame after Hubert de Montille took over in the 1940s. Based in Volnay, he grew the estate’s holdings throughout Burgundy, consistently making red and white wines that were meant to age for quite a while before opening. In the last few decades, the farming has become organic, and the wines have become accessible earlier, with their elegance and complexity still on full display.
De Montille is (one of) the heartbeats of Burgundy, and Mitans is the heartbeat of de Montille. It goes way back in the estate’s history, consistently producing delicate, super floral wines that are friendly right out of the gate.
