Mark Angeli has legend-status in the Loire Valley. Along with decades of style-defining chenin blanc, he was a trailblazer in France's natural wine movement. A former chemistry student and stonemason, Mark acquired land in Anjou in 1990, and farmed biodynamically from the get-go. He would go on to show the potential of dry chenin blanc in the region, while mentoring the likes of Stéphane Bernaudeau along the way. The wines remain Loire reference points today. Les Gelinettes - the estate’s only red wine - is made primarily from the local grolleau grape. It’s vibrant, aromatic, and velvety, an ideal chilled red.
