Nebbiolo’s most famous stomping grounds are in Piedmont, but that’s not the only locale where the grape produces delicious red wines. Next door in Lombardy, producers like ArPePE, Nino Negri, and Marco Ferrari have shown the potential of nebbiolo - known locally as chiavennasca - from the area’s alpine vineyards. Marco’s Rosso di Valtellina is a vibrant, floral, perfumed red that perfectly reflects the cool mountain character of the region.
