Thevenet, Saint-Véran 'Clos de l’Hermitage Vieilles Vignes' 2021

In the Maconnais region of southern Burgundy, Helene Thevenet and her three sons produce a range of approachable yet precise wines. This is their top bottling, which they make in limited quantities from 70+ year-old chardonnay vines in the village of Saint-Véran. The wine isn’t exposed to any oak, but the old vines and relatively warm growing site yield a dense, full-bodied White Burgundy.

Tastes like: Ripe pear, brioche, jasmine.

How to drink: Chilled with soft cheeses, spinach ravioli, or all types of shellfish.
