Walter Scott, Passetoutgrains 'Arlyn' 2021
In Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Erica Landon and Ken Pahlow produce some of our favorite wines in America today. They use Burgundian grapes to make wines that strike a balance between richness and freshness, fruit flavors and earthy ones.
Passetoutgrains loosely translates to “throw it all in.” It refers to a style in Burgundy of co-fermenting pinot noir with the region’s other red grape, gamay. In the Willamette, Walter Scott employs this technique to make a wine that’s fresh and easy-drinking, yet spicy and floral.
