Château Malartic-Lagravière, Pessac-Leognan 2002

Old Bordeaux is the name of a house paint, a candle scent, and the child of a C level actor who is hoping to get a mention in Page Six for top 10 Obscure Celebrity Baby Names. Old Bordeaux as far as this email is concerned is a 19-year-old bottle of red that tastes like smoking a cigar, sweet chocolate, and roasted red peppers for less than $100.

Malartic-Lagravière is a Château (french word for a wine mansion) that has been around for hundreds of years. It’s so old that one of its founders fought in a battle in Canada against the English. Their vineyards are in a prime but unknown part of the region. 2002 is a vintage that is ready to drink now.
