Gail Wines, Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 'Doris' 2024

Gail Wines is a project from Dan O’Brien, who was the Estate Director at Larkmead in Napa, before venturing out on his own in 2013. Named for his late mother, Gail, his boutique winery is based in Sonoma Valley. Compared to the classically rich cabernets of Napa, Dan’s cab from high-elevation sites in Sonoma is fresher and more herbaceous. It’s a midweight, dark-fruited red wine that’d be ideal at a late-Spring BBQ.

Tastes like: Blueberry, eucalyptus, sage, cocoa.

How to drink: With steaks on the grill, herb-crusted pork, or mushroom ragù.
