Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, Saint-Joseph 2021

Chave doesn’t have a sprawling range - you can count all of the domaine bottlings on one hand. And the 500 year-old family winery has very few peers in terms of wine-world prestige. That’s what makes Chave’s Saint-Joseph such an unlikely source of value. But year in and year out, that’s exactly what it is.

This is collectible, seriously delicious syrah from one of the world’s greatest winemakers, and it’s available for less than $100.

Here's what you should know about it:
  • Jean-Louis Chave represents the 16th consecutive generation of his family to make wine in the Northern Rhône, dating back to 1481.
  • This peppery, savory red is made with syrah from the heart of Saint-Joseph, just across the river from Hermitage.
  • Due to low yields in 2021, Chave blended their old vines from Clos Florentin into this Saint-Joseph, yielding a particularly deep, defined wine.
