In the village of Saumur, there’s a hill called Brézé that yields many of the greatest wines in the Loire Valley. Clos Rougeard, Guiberteau, and now Arnaud Lambert, all utilize the hill’s tuffeau - a chalky limestone - soils to make savory, high-acid wines. Those traits are on display in this cabernet franc, which is lithe and full of the grape’s classic herbal, peppery notes.
Tastes like: Plum, persimmon, violets, green bell pepper.
How to drink: Ideal with pepperoni pizza, BBQ ribs, or pasta bolognese.
