The Colla family has been making wine in Piedmont for more than three centuries, but the Colla name rose to global fame with Beppe Colla, who owned Prunotto starting in the mid ‘50s. Now, the family’s wines can go toe-to-toe with any in the region. The deepest and most structured is their Barolo ‘Bussia’. The traditional-style Barolo is deep and age-worthy, though 2018 yielded a softer style wine that can be enjoyed young.
Tastes like: Red cherry, mushrooms, leather, roses.
How to drink: Decant for an hour, and enjoy with red meats or mushroom risotto.
