The Jura is often compared to Burgundy due to the fact that they’re neighbors, and they both produce savory, salty white wines. The winemaker friends behind Burgundy’s Domaine des Croix and the Jura’s Domaine Courbet seem to think the comparisons are justified, forming a sort of union between the two French regions at Domaine Croix & Courbet. Based in the Jura, this blend of chardonnay and the local savagnin grape tastes like a particularly nutty version of White Burgundy, or perhaps a particularly clean and floral version of savagnin. Either way, it’s delicious.
Tastes like: Ripe peach, salted almonds, honeysuckle.
How to drink: Not too cold alongside rich seafood dishes, roast chicken, or cheese (ideally comté).
