Domaine Drouhin-Laroze, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 'Au Closeau' 2018

In the years following WWI, Burgundy was in some hard times. Amidst abundant misfortune, the Drouhin-Laroze family found an opportunity: they started buying up precious Grand Cru vineyards– a lot of them. Though the returns have been handsome to say the least, the Drouhin-Laroze family isn’t cashing in: they still work their hectares by hand and care more about low-intervention farming than high fashion.

Au Closeau is only made by Drouhin-Laroze.  It's a powerful, nuanced Premier Cru Red Burgundy from old vines in Gevrey-Chambertin.
