Egly-Ouriet, Brut Grand Cru Millésime 2013

$450

Egly-Ouriet ages its wines in bottle for up to 100 months before release. Those wines are made from old-vine, mostly pinot noir, which Francis Egly harvests late for added ripeness. The resulting house style is powerful, rich, and nuanced - like sparkling versions of the very best Burgundy.

While 2012 gets all the plaudits, 2013 is a Champagne vintage that is also one of the 21st century’s best. Made from a blend of pinot noir and chardonnay, this wine is aged for 96 months in bottle prior to hitting the market. That’s a really long time. The result is Champagne that’s toasty, concentrated, and age-worthy.
