Monier-Perréol, 'Chàtelet' Saint-Joseph 2018

$55
The red wines of Saint-Joseph are some of our favorite for year-round drinking. Syrah here tastes fresher and more savory than in warmer parts of the world, and the wines, though full, are more balanced than bombastic. Jean-Pierre Monier makes tiny amounts of wine in a cellar so small it could be his garage—but unlike garage bands, this wine is about as polished as it gets. It's medium-bodied, organic, and tastes like blackberries, Mediterranean herbs, and smoke.
