Paolo Bea, Sagrantino di Montefalco ‘Pagliaro’ 2017

$115

Paolo Bea is one of the founding fathers of natural wine in Italy, and remains arguably the greatest producer in Umbria today. On a tiny vineyard way up in the hills of central Italy, he makes tiny quantities of wines using local, organically-farmed grapes.

If you’re into heavier wines, start here. ‘Pagliaro’ is a vineyard dedicated entirely to sagrantino. This wine is dry, full-bodied and structured, with a balance of ripe, bitter, and herbaceous flavors.
