This is a special, late-release that just arrived from one of the great dry riesling producers in all of Germany: Peter Lauer. It comes from a Premier Cru site in the Saar, where Florian Lauer is unequivocally one of the greats, alongside the likes of his neighbor, Egon Müller. Stylistically, though, Lauer stands alone. His wines are dry, fresh, and crystalline. As epitomized by the 2022 vintage, and particularly this Premier Cru, the wines are deep and intensely mineral - salty, smoky, stony - yet simultaneously featherweight and easy-drinking. Truly great dry riesling.
