In the Mosel, just across the river from Weiser-Künstler, this insider’s estate is now run by the young Moritz Hoffman, who took over for the late Daniel Vollenweider. 2022 marks the first release made entirely by Moritz, who is utilizing old vines in prime sites to make riesling that’s pristine, thoughtful, and just plain delicious. Goldgrube comes from 120 year-old, ungrafted vines, which yield a bone-dry, seriously detailed riesling.
