After working in Burgundy at Dujac and Simon Bize, Graillot set up shop in Crozes-Hermitage in 1985. In short, Graillot put Crozes on the map, producing world-class syrah previously only found in places like Hermitage and Cote-Rotie. Alain’s sons, Maxime and Antoine, have run things for the last 15 years, but the work is as traditionalist as ever. And so is the quality. Graillot only makes ‘La Guiraude’ in exceptional vintages. It’s particularly bold, with syrah’s classic savory notes dialed up to 10. Production is very limited.
Tastes like: Plum, violet, leather, smoked meat.
How to Drink: Decant and enjoy with lamb chops or braised beef.
