Cascina delle Rose is a small Piemontese producer that’s been run for the last 30 years by Giovanna Rizzolio, one of the pioneering female winemakers in the region. Giovanna, along with her partner, Italo, and their two sons, make this red wine from organic nebbiolo. In fact, like their most collectible Barbaresco, this comes entirely from the famed Rio Sordo vineyard. It showcases the estate’s elegant, perfumed style, but aging in stainless steel yields a particularly fresh wine.
Tastes like: Tart cherry, roses, licorice.
How to drink: A perfect option for pizza or pasta with red sauce.
