A cold region in the shadows of the French Alps, the Savoie is home to good fondue, better skiing, and a collection of singular, sought-after wines. Ardoisières has been making high-quality, natural wine in the region for longer than anyone. Using a local grape called mondeuse, Ardoisières makes this biodynamic red that’s light and tangy like Beaujolais, as well as floral and peppery like syrah.

Tastes like: Wild strawberries, violets, and blackberry
How to drink: Chilled with fondue, or even grilled fish.
