For the last 20 years, Julien Cruchandeau has brought high-quality winemaking to less heralded parts of Burgundy. That started in Bouzeron, where he focused on aligoté with some initial assistance from the legendary Aubert de Villaine of DRC. Julien then moved on to the hills above Nuits-Saint-Georges. His fresh, bright-fruited, old-vine reds like this one helped open people’s eyes to the potential of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.
Tastes like: Raspberry, lilacs, red licorice, smoke.
How to drink: Alongside roast chicken, mushroom risotto, or a charcuterie board.
