A Belgian-born winemaker began growing grapes and olives on the slopes of a Sicilian volcano. 20 years later, the wine world anticipates his releases like the world does Rihanna’s next album. How did this happen? Frank Cornelissen’s wines are made on the ashy, volcanic slope of Mount Etna using native, local grapes. They taste like the place they’re from: bright with citrus rind, refreshingly salty like the ocean, and just a little bit smoky– like a perfect cocktail or an elaborately plated dish: a lot going on and the end result is different and also delectable.
