Vernacchia is a white grape grown in Tuscany, a part of Italy known more for hearty reds. It makes a white wine that is textured and savory, though still lemony and crisp.Tastes like: Lemon peel, almonds, and fennel. How to drink: Chill it, but don’t drink it ice cold. Drink with anything from rutabaga to ragu.
The Tuscan coast is known primarily for rich and full reds. This light and floral natural red is made by one of Italy’s top winemakers, Elisabetta Foradori. It’s on the other end of the spectrum of the big and juicy style typical to these parts. The name of the wine is Kepos. It’s a blend of grapes normally found on the French coast of the sea, such as grenache.
Tastes like: Blackberry, caraway seeds, and roses.How to drink: It’s a good red for seafood or spicy food.
