The southern Spanish village of Villarrobledo is best known for its clay amphorae, which are used to age the wines of many elite producers around Europe. In Villarrobledo, José Joaquín Ballesteros comes from a line of grape growers on his dad’s side and amphorae producers on his mom’s. He utilizes both at Llámalo (pronounced "yah-mah-low"), organically farming local grape varieties and aging his wines in amphora. This is his only white wine, with just 200 cases made annually. It’s bright and toasty, an unusually complex expression of the airen grape.
