The Padellettis are one of the oldest families in Montalcino, and with winemaking roots dating back to the 1500s, it probably won’t come as a surprise to hear that they remain staunch traditionalists. From a single block of organic sangiovese on Montalcino’s famed hill, they make Brunello, as well as this Rosso. It comes from younger vines than the Brunello and isn’t aged as long before release, leading to a fresh, savory red that’s meant to be enjoyed young.

Tastes like: Blackberry, roasted tomato, leather.
How to drink: This is a perfect pizza wine, but it works similarly well with red sauce pastas.
