Petit-Roy is one of the most talked-about new producers in Burgundy. Behind the operation is Seiichi Saito. Seiichi moved to Beaune from Japan in 2006, and proceeded to build a resumé that included stints at Mugnier, Rousseau, Leflaive, and Simon Bize. Now at Petit-Roy, he’s making elegant pinot from a few tiny, biodynamic plots around the region. Seiichi’s whole-cluster Red Burgundy is lithe and fresh, full of bright red fruit and spicy notes. It's lightly extracted and sees zero new oak, yielding a more delicate, aromatic style of Burgundy.
