Podere Salicutti was the first producer in Montalcino to farm organically. Whether or not that carries any weight for you, it shows that they’ve been meticulous and hands-on in the vineyard for quite a long time. And their wines reflect it. Each one comes from a different vineyard a short drive from the coast. The ‘Piaggione’ is Salicutti’s flagship, showcasing Brunello’s classic balance of silky texture and powerful grip. 

Tastes like: Wild strawberry, sage, cinnamon, leather.
How to drink: This can age for another 20 years, but with an hour of decanting and a ribeye, it’s ready to go now as well.
