At Prunotto in the early ‘60s, Beppe Colla took the pioneering step of bottling wines from individual vineyards in Barolo. It was a move responsible for Prunotto - and Barolo in general - gaining recognition as one of Italy’s greatest wines. Beppe sold Prunotto in 1990, but kept some of his best vineyards for his new project, Poderi Colla. The Colla family makes this red wine from a single vineyard bordering Barbaresco. It shows nebbiolo’s classic balance of finesse and savory depth, with freshness that makes it approachable right away.
Tastes like: Red plum, roses, licorice, mushroom.
How to drink: Alongside braised meat or a hearty pasta with red sauce.
