Portuguese wine is currently improving at a faster clip than arguably anywhere else on earth. This red from the Dão region offers a window into how things are changing. Rather than an inky and oaky blend of high-yielding grapes, Carlos Raposo solely uses low-yielding Touriga Nacional, which he farms organically and biodynamically before aging entirely in stainless steel. The result is fresh, floral, and focused.
Tastes like: Wild raspberry, violet, Earl Grey tea.
How to drink: With smoked meat, a few slices of Jamón ibérico, or a grilled portobello burger.
