In few, if any, countries, is the wine landscape changing as rapidly as it is in Portugal right now. A focus on native grape varieties and reduced yields is producing fresher, just plain better wines than ever before. Anna Jorgensen is very much part of this new wave. Since taking over her family winery in 2019, she has brought in world-renowned vineyard consultants, converted to organic farming, and decreased production by more than half. She crafts this vibrant, spicy red from grapes like touriga franca and trincadeira two hours inland from Lisbon.
Tastes like: Raspberry, cinnamon, olive, peppercorn.
How to drink: With BBQ, grilled veggies, or a hearty stew.
