Juicy but not jammy, and savory but not weighty, Côtes du Rhône is the quintessential crowd-pleasing wine. This organic version from Jonathan Jacquart is no exception. But Jacquart, who is based in Cornas, makes a version that’s more than simply easy-drinking. Rather than grenache or syrah, he uses the lighter cinsault grape, which he ferments whole-cluster to make a red that’s particularly floral, spicy, and fresh.
Tastes like: Raspberry, black pepper, violets.
How to drink: Lightly chilled with pepperoni pizza, chili, or bolognese.
